Scott Thorne
BIG DADDY LOVE! Bass and Vocals
Scott began his musical journey as a bass guitarist in the early 1980’s playing with his West Springfield High School buddies in The Rumor (along with other area music veterans Jumpin’ Jupiter singer Jay Jenc, and Texas Chainsaw Horns guitarist Scooter Thomas). To this day The Rumor still gets together to play the occasional gig.
In the late 80’s and into the early 90’s he went on to play with the Top 40 band Doctor’s Orders and the classic rock band Idle Hands. From 1992 to 2019 Scott played bass with Jeff Watson and Downtown where he joined forces with his musical brothers Jeff, Mickey Way, and Bobby Fagel. This group also became the basis of The Texas Chainsaw Horns which he played with until 2018.
After a 27-year run with Downtown, Scott decided to become a freelancer, and was called upon to play with many DC area bands including Junkyard Saints, The Sidemen, Too Damn Big Orchestra, Fat Liver Jenkins, The Robbie Limon Band, The Billy Thompson Band, and The Roadducks (of which Scott’s brother David played bass with from 1976 to 1982).
When seeking his latest victim, drummer Doug Macuch obviously took a hit to the head with his own drum stick and in a foggy, concussive state made the call to Big Daddy Love to offer him the gig with Diamond Alley... and the rest is history!
In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, dogs, and working in his shop in Purcellville, VA.
